Finally Lamborghini sheds light on its new raging bull 'Huracán'

Lamborghini after all the hype and hoopla has revealed the successor of its best selling model Gallardo, the mighty Huracán.

Huracán Front Three-Quarters
Keeping up with the tradition Lamborghini named its car 'Huracán' after a bull that fought in Alicante in 1879. With its triple meaning of storm, Mayan god, and raging bull, this might be the coolest car name ever.

Initial specs do make this car the worthy successor of 'Gallardo' which has probably raked up half of the sales for Lamborghini since 1963!

Huracán Rear End

Power is sourced from the same 5.2-liter V10 engine as the Gallardo’s. However, thanks to the IDS (Iniezione Diretta Stratifica), Lambo’s way of combining direct and indirect gasoline injections, the Huracán produces 610 hp at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm of torque. What this means is that the Huracán does 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and 0-200 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Top speed? In excess of 325 km/h.

Huracán Side View

Lamborghini new found design philosophy making their cars look like jet fighters has been borrowed in Huracán too, with protruding lines making the car look voluptuous, sexy, complimenting the razor sharp headlight and tail light design. The body weight is 1422 kg owing to the new hybrid chassis marrying carbon-fiber and aluminium making the car light and nimble like a trademark Lamborghini would be.

Huracán's Interior

Huracán gets jet fighter feel in the interior too with Start and Stop button getting missile activating toggle switch type theme, the instrument cluster is displayed in a 12.3 inch TFT screen.

The car will make its public debut in Geneva Motor Show 2014 and will be privately showcased to potential customers around 60 cities beginning in January.

So start planning of robbing a bank or marrying a rich girl if you want to get your hands behind this voluptuous beauty's steering wheel!

'Old Delhi Motorcycle' A film justfied for a legacy like Royal Enfield Bullet

Surfing into the you tube for reviews of bikes and cars, the latest music and the usual mumbo-jumbo I stumbled across this video with you tube telling me "recommended for you", the video titled 'Old Delhi Motorcycles The Film' and the kind of petrol head I am I decided to watch this film only to be left astound, spellbound, speechless 19 mins later making me doubt about my passion for motorcycle is hard enough or these guys have just created a whole new meaning for the word passion.

The film revolves around the people most of whom are mechanics who dedicated their entire lives to repairing and reviving motorcycles and that too for only one that is 'Royal Enfield Bullet'.

The way they see this motorcycle is like as if she is a human being not a piece of metal, like a family member of theirs'. They cherish their talent of making and repairing this motorcycle and pass on this talent to generations ahead as if it is some kind of a treasure.
In this film I was moved by a guy's words which I quote "Being a mechanic here is like a 'stigma' people want their kids to be a engineer or a doctor nobody wants to be a mechanic" which I agree as we Indians see mechanic as a profession people are compelled to do due to the poor conditions, well this film will certainly make a Indian look into a mechanic in a different light from now on.
Royal Enfield Bullet

Their dedication for this motorcycle which I can only respect with only bold lettering and a couple of apostrophes make me sound puny to them. Hats-off to these mechanics for making Bullet the name more popular and stronger than the brand it represents.

So if you are a thumping fanatic then watch this film for sure as it will make you respect a mechanic and the 'Royal Enfield Bullet' even more, the only motorcycle which if you own you can proudly say "Bhaisahab ye average nahi deti !"

Rejoice! It’s the all-new ‘Stang with right-hand drive and a big V8

So all these rumors and rendering were finally brought to rest today with the launch of the new pony from the stable of Ford.

2015 Ford Mustang Front Quarters
So what is new in this 10th gen model that created such a fuss?

The model is expected to be launched on what will be its 50th birthday. Ford has sold more than nine million of them to date, so expect this new one to see the Mustang over the 10m mark some time around 2016.

Has it still got the stang left in it?

The model design is more evolutionary with the tweaking of the old orthodox styling into more feminine slender one, more European design language influenced. The result is some may like some may hate it but it still has the persona of prancing mustang left in it with long bonnet and the rearward fastback feel.
The MkX, built on the latest Ford S550 platform, is a completely fresh rethink of the classic. There's less than two per cent carry over in componentry from the current model.

2015 Ford Mustang Rear Quarters
The signature body designs are still evident are the shark bite grille, bluff front end, power dome on the bonnet, triple rear taillights, etc. The overall design of the car highlights its length and lack of rake plus the fact that it is 38mm lower and 40mm wider. The window area is narrower, the A-pillar slightly (30mm) more rearward.

Is the chassis still stoneage?

For the first time the mustang is going to jewel itself with an independent rear suspension making it the most agile and nimble pony ever. The rear setup is joined by an all-new front perimeter subframe, and double-ball-joint MacPherson struts.

So will all mustangs be growling with mammoth V8s ?

Well the answer is sadly no, the car is going to be on sale with three engine options. The V6 version will beefier and throaty 300 bhp and 365 Nm of torque than the current one and just for US the V8 version will a 5 litre one churning out 420 bhp of pure muscle power. The stang will also be boasted with  2.3-litre version of the twin-scroll turbo EcoBoost motor pumping a little over 305 bhp of power.

A four cylinder Mustang seriously?

The new Mustang is made to pull in European as well as Asian customers and this four cylinder Ecoboost engine is just apt for Ford to broaden its reach on more potential buyers and this mustang is engineered to start from either right or left side steering.

Interior of Ford Mustang

Inside, Ford has bedazzled the muscle car with their SYNC multimedia system, MyKey keyless start and Blind Spot warning system.

So the new stang is bound to get many sighs and boos the same time, the verdict will reach following its launch in 2015 or 2016.

Kawasaki Z800 rumored to be launched in India soon

Some of the bike fanatics claim this bike to be Undisputed Middle Weight Champ in the naked motorcycle segment, what I claim is that she's the porn star of the naked motorcycle segment with naughty raunchy styling bearing a fearless attitude, lines and edges so sharp and aggressive that you could slit your fingers while caressing its body.

The design theme so bold that its nearest contender seems a generation older, it can give Italian motorcycle makers a complex with their bikes as they are known for present the best designed for some time now.
Kawasaki Z800 is the newest bike offering from the Japanese manufacturers Kawasaki to bear the iconic 'Z' tag which has been into existence for well over 40 years now is finally going to make its presence felt in India.

Side View of Kawasaki Z800
The bike originally styled for the European market is rumored to be in India as finally the bike giant are the potential that is there in the Indian market with the Emerging Markets Automotive Advisors (EMMAAA) has forecasting a growth of a whopping 532 percent from its 2012 levels for the Indian big bike market.

Kawasaki earlier this year had launched their ZX-10R superbike and the behemoth Ninja ZX-14R and so they might introduce their naked bike segment as well. The bike may be introduced in Indian market anttime now with a rumored date of early 2014.

Kawasaki Z800 on the run

The pricing is still a mystery but if 'Completely Built Unit' (CBU) are up for circulation then the bike wont be cheap to get into one's hands.

Here's a video describing the details of bike exhaustively.

The New Royal Enfield Continental GT can be yours for INR 2.05 lakhs

Royal Enfield has finally launched the much awaited Continental GT at a gala event in Goa. RE has priced the Continental GT at Rs 2.05 lakhs (on-road, New Delhi) and 2.14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the bike, Royal Enfield is making a bold move in Indian motorcycle market bringing a flavor of motorcycle the “Cafe Racer” culture that was prevalent in the 1960s in UK and totally new to the mileage frenzy Indians.
Siddharth Lal With The New Continental GT
The Continental GT is brought to life a 535 cc Unit Construction Engine (UCE) that churns out a power of 29.1 bhp and a peak torque of 44 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

The New Continental GT
The hardcore biker are going to love the naked double tube cradle chassis embracing the engine complete with a front telescopic 41 mm forks, with a travel of up to 110 mm, and rear twin gas-charged shockers, with 80 mm travel, from Paioli. The chassis has been developed by the legendary Harris Performance from UK.

The single seat body only adds a bit more rebellious character to the bike reminiscent of the 60s era and side view mirrors by the handle gives it an elegant retro touch to the look of the bike.
Continental GT Three Quarters
So only time will tell if this newest thumper will be success or a dud for Royal Enfield but one thing is for sure this bike has brought up a whole new revolution in the Indian motorcycle industry.

Honda Vezel make its debut in 2013 Tokyo Motor Show

Crossovers and Compact Crossover are the segments that Honda hadn't fully ventured in but that is uptill now, Honda Vezel is the newest entry to the most trending segment in the automotive industry 'Compact Crossover'.
Honda Vezel Three Quarters
The all new Vezel made its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show 2013 is based on the platform which is shared by Jazz and City and is more of a crossover with a feel of driving a hatchback and a body of a SUV.

As per the new trend of automobile companies like the Hyundai's and Volkswagen's Honda too is bringing in the similar design policy to its and so the Vezel borrows its cues from the other Honda models like Jazz, City, CR-V. The design consists of double lines embracing the whole body, one starting headlamps and other from the taillamps which in my opinion muddies up the flow the car. Same philosophy is adapted on the front end too with too many edges cluttering up the fascia with the three-part grille, the angular headlights and the bumper ridges shrieking for a bit of attention.
Honda Vezel's Rear End
The door handles of the rear door has been located on the rear side pillar so that handles doesn't mess up with the lines of the car. The rear end is edgy like the front end with sharp tail light clustering and the strong character lines making the rear end apparently look more attractive than the front end.
Interior of Honda Vezel Pic: Paultan.org
The interior perhaps is the thing to watch for in a Honda car with practicality triumphing over flashy design and so everything from the switches, buttons to the infotainment screen looks properly placed and made only to be practical for the driver and the passengers.
Honda's New VTEC Turbo Engine
But the Japanese car makers is known more for their highly efficient engines rather than their design philosophy, with the announcement of new range of Turbo VTEC engines which they claim will make the award winning Ecoboost range of engines from Ford bite the dust will be boasted in the new Vezel.

There's no confirmation from the Honda as to when they are going to launch the vehicle in India but given the steep rise of sales in the compact crossover segment in India leaded by Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport, the Honda will be smacking their lips to bring what is perhaps the tailor made car for Indian market.

Send in your opinions about this blog, any suggestions will be duly appreciated.

KTM RC390 specs and images revealed

KTM hasn't seized to amaze us bike maniacs with the launch of Duke 390 quoted as The Orange Hooligan for the sheer power to weight ratio which is almost reminiscent of 2012 Aston Martin Vantage and the price at which it was launched brought tears of joy.

So after all these drama one may assume that it may take a while to a bring a beast of a bike to market but with KTM RC390 being put into entourage of bikes of having huge fan following. KTM RC390 will be lauched at International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA) which will take place in Milan, Italy from November 5th.

Based on its older sibling KTM RC8 the RC390, afully faired version Duke 390 does has some unique features to distinguish like the BMW inspired front fascia, edgier design of the fuel tank, new under belly exhaust design and overall a radical look that you expect from KTM.
Side View of KTM RC390

The Half fairing with exposure the orange powder coated trellis frame does give you the trademark aggressive styling and the whole design is more or less on par with the Duke 390. The RC390 also gets clip-on handlebars and KTM have moved back the footrests and the pedals by a notch.

KTM RC390 Front Fascia

With all the full fairing the bike weighs 8kgs more the Duke 390 and has got a shorter wheelbase compared to the regular 390 which results in greater maneuverability helped by the steering head angle of 66.5 degrees.
Top View of KTM RC390
Powering the RC390 is the same 375cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 45 PS and 35 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox as mentioned in my earlier blog. The RC390 is expected to be a bit more expensive than the Duke 390.

KTM RC390 Rear End
So KTM enthusiasts gear up for more mind boggling bikes because this is determined to make an impact and rule the market of mid displacement engine bikes which is for now conquered by the Japanese giants.

Rajputana Customs bringing in Americana flavor into normal Indian motorcycles

Now this blog aren't for the ones who think that motorcycles like the 'Splendors' and 'Passions' are better motorcycles than the invincible 'Enfields'. This blog isnt for the ones who take a first look at a bike and ask "Mileage kitna deti hai ?".

This blog is for the ones that love the sweet thumping snorkeling sound coming out of the exhaust of the bike, the petrolheads who love smell of leather of the seat and the jackets, the ones who wants to ride to let their inner rebel out and dont give a damn of what the world thinks of them once the rushing winds hits your face as you ride.

These type of feelings comes from the motorcycle like the Choppers, Bobbers, Cafe Racers. Sadly us Indians are always introduced to motorcycles that has got no personality and all it has to offer is 'Mileage'!

But the scenario is changing now and finally we are understanding the true motorcycle culture with establishments of custom motorcycle shops that can transform a simple motorcycle to something that will enhance your personality and raise you from the other minnows.

While there are many wannabes in this custom motorcycle industry, 'Rajputana Customs' is name that is worth mentioning. Their customs means only to respect the motorcycle, respect its culture and not fool around with gimmicky plastic parts that is just a blob to the eye.

Founded by Vijay Singh who belongs to Jaipur, he started his enterprise by showcasing his first bike 'Original Gansgter' at the Delhi Expo 2010 which raved up some awesome reviews and from there it was no looking back for his brand.

Now the his brand has a platoon of custom motorcycles to showcase like the Uno, Laado, Nandi, Lightfoot, Chingari, 8ball, Bittoo, MP=40, my personal favourite Gulail and many others. You name the style of the bike and they will make it for you.
Original Gangster
They specialize not only modifying existing Enfield bikes but making bikes from scratch to suit your style.
There are other high profile custom motorcycle builders out there but to me Rajputana Customs has managed to keep the essence of Americana into the bikes more than anybody else. Their philosophy of design speaks for itself with simple yet elegant craftmanship which is hard thing to achieve. Their custom design will leave you awe struct and drooling for a ride the minute you see them.
Light Foot commissioned by John Abraham
For me these bikes bring the true inner unique you from these stereotypical dull tasted society when you ride on these beautiful pieces of craftmanship and you will be the envy for the ones who when often sees a car or bike ends up asking "Kitna Deti Hai?"
Gulail
Take a bow Vijay Singh because your brand fabricates some of the finest custom motorcycles in India.

Do send in opnions, any suggestions, advice will be appreciated.

Specs out for the new 2014 Hero Karizma R and ZMR

The taste of higher displacement engine bikes at an affordable price was first introduced for the 'Middle Class' Indians by Hero Motor Corp. with Karizma which then the bike to buy. But sadly the 'Charisma' from Karizma got fizzled out by the introduction of aggressive mouth watering lineup of bikes from its long time rival Bajaj christened Pulsar.

Pulsar not only ate the market of Hero but also is now the undisputed champion in this section. So Hero's solution to this problem, partner yourself with a bike company having the racing pedigree 'Erik Buell Racing' and bring a new badass motorcycle to bring back the charisma into Indian market, RIGHT!

Well the initial impression does tell you the opposite with out of league styling and with power specs disclosed will leave you desiring for more from Hero's flagship bike. The styling of front fascia adapts the typical vertical twin headlamps from the Erik Buell Racing EBR 1190 RS but screams hard of wooing the Pulsar fans which dons pretty much similar styling. The rear suspension is the same twin spring ones which seems out of style as the mono shock suspension seems standard now a days for premium segment bikes. However the taillamps are new and unique and probably the saving grace for Hero when they put the 'NEW' tag to this bike.

New Karizma R Three Quarters
The Karizma R will be powered by the air-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, 223cc engine producing 19.2 PS and 19.35 Nm of torque. In comparison, the older model produced 17.2 PS and 18.35 Nm of torque. Thanks to the power boost, the 0-60km/h acceleration time has improved from 3.8 seconds to 3.6 seconds.

New Karizma ZMR Front Fascia Picture Credit: MotorBeam
The Karizma ZMR draws power from the same single-cylinder, air-cooled, 223cc engine. However, where the R gets a carburetor, the ZMR is fuel-injected and as a result boasts power and torque figures of 20 PS and 19.7 Nm respectively. Again, this is an improvement from the earlier 17.8 PS and 18.35 Nm of torque.

The New Karizma will be put on market at a projecte price of Rs. 1.10 lakhs which place itself into competitors like Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and Yamaha R 15 which are frankly speaking are far more superior in styling and power.
It will be interesting to see if Hero’s attempt to break into this section pays off and if it is able to pull buyers away from the likes of Bajaj and Yamaha. My impression is Hero Motor Corp. are better off selling smaller displacement engine bikes as they have a lot of catching up to do in this segment.

Send in your opinions about my post, any advice, suggestions will be appreciated.

Chevrolet Beat facelift test mule spotted in India

Come 2014 and General Motors (GM) are determined to up the ante in India with the launch of facelifted version of their best selling model in India 'Chevrolet Beat'. Next year’s Indian Auto Expo is a possible launch venue for the compact car that’s available in petrol, CNG and diesel engine options. A test mule of the Chevrolet Beat has been spotted in India.

New Front Fascia of Beat
GM has been suffering from the recent slump of sales in Indian market and are desperate to get back into the race and the most effective way of to make an impact is by revamping their best selling model 'Beat'.

GM made its best effort to hide the new features in the car camouflaging probably the whole car but the car gurus are predicting the car to resemble the newly launched South African version. While the US version of the 2014 Beat gains automatic headlamps and a CVT automatic gearbox, the South African version shows a larger number of cosmetic changes.

New Rear End of Beat
Since the Beat is due for a major facelift in India, the South African model is a better bet for the Indian market. Many of the following changes, already available on the South African model, are likely to make it to the Indian version of the 2014 Chevrolet Beat facelift,
  • Redesigned front and rear bumpers
  • New headlamps
  • Revised front grille
  • ORVMs with integrated turn indicators
  • Redesigned alloy wheels
  • Refreshed tail lamps and side skirts
  • Revised exhaust tip
  • Chromed hatch handle
  • Rear roof spoiler
  • Optional decals for bonnet, roof, roof spoiler and hatch lid
  • New seat fabric
  • Refreshed center console
Under the hood, status quo could be maintained. The 1.2 liter-80 PS petrol engine and the 936cc-triple cylinder turbo diesel engines are likely to be carried over. The petrol engine also gets an LPG dual fuel option. All three engines are tried and tested units in the Indian market.

Side view of Beat
The automatic transmission is finally trending in the young Indian market and the big dogs in the industry are bringing the option into their major selling models and the CVT option wont hurt much for GM India along with the standard 5-speed option. After the launch of the Sail U-VA hatchback, sales of the Beat have taken a beating. The facelifted model could turn things around for this funky looking car whose design evokes an equal share of grins and groans.

Meet Audi’s 700bhp Quattro concept- The Hybrid Monster

Audi's new angry concept "Quattro"

It's no coincidence that this combative, pugnacious looking tyke has been badged the Audi Sport Quattro Concept. It's a deliberate homage to the classic Sport Quattro from 1983 - the short-wheelbase one, that is - and thus carries with it the weight of a million enthusiastic car fanatics.

Under the bonnet is the same 552bhp twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 as in the new RS6 Avant, but sandwiched between the engine and eight-speed Tiptronic box is a 147bhp electric motor. That takes the total output to 690bhp and 800Nm of torque – enough for a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a 190mph top speed.
That's... not quite as fast as we'd hoped, considering the gigantic power output and four-wheel-drive. As some of you will no doubt point out, a Nissan GT-R will hit 62mph in three seconds dead. Still, all this and a claimed 59g/km of CO2 and 113mpg for the show car.

With a fully charged battery pack, drivers will be able to go 30 miles on electric power, meaning 113mpg economy and 59g/km CO2 emissions.

The new Quattro three-quarters

The design screams hard of the flamboyant 80s.
The exterior is littered with nods to the eighties Sport quattro, like the flat C-pillar, rectangular headlamps and tail-lights, and the slatted bonnet vent.

The racing influences are smattered all over this angry concept; those broad shoulders, single frame grille, bonnet creases, front splitter and rear diffuser, massive 21-inch wheels and flared arches. Inside, there are sports bucket seats, a digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and multi-function sports steering wheel that "provides a glimpse into future sporty production models".

Interior of the new Quattro
The Sport quattro sits on a modified RS5 platform, but is shorter, wider and higher.
A limited production run is expected at the Neckarsulm plant in Germany, where the R8 and RS models are made, and could cost around £125,000.

Spied – 2014 Tata Vista facelift caught uncamouflaged?

Kudos to Team-BHP.com for bringing up the spied shots of the 2014 Tata Vista facelift. We may very well be seeing the first glimpse of the updated car.

Though the front fascia is different, you will not mistake the 2014 Vista for anything else thanks to its familiar   headlight design. We notice that the lights have been shortened and the layout of the grille reminds us of the Tata Manza hybrid that was shown at the 2012 Auto Expo.
New Indica spied

The front bumper sports triangular airdams on either ends and this looks tastefully done. We don’t notice any other changes and the design of the wing mirrors and the surfacing of the doors seem to be the same as well.

Here's the current image for comparison.

The 2014 Vista is expected to continue with the same 1.3-liter Fiat sourced MultiJet engine available in two states of tune – 75PS and 90PS. The petrol engine, which is also sourced from Fiat, is the 1.2-liter FIRE outputting 65PS. The BS3 TDI could be upgraded to the BS4 CR4 thus enabling the company a wide range of variants across India.
